Sources of noise pollution in Denmark include road traffic, aircraft, industry, noisy outdoor leisure activities and neighbours. One of the aims of the Danish Envirionmental Protection Act is to prevent and control noise nuisances.

The transport sector is among the most important contributors to the pressure on the environment, and the volume of transport is constantly increasing. The Danish Environmental Protection Agency engages in activities to reduce the environmental impact from the transport sector, in close cooperation with other authorities.
