Forestry

Approximately 14 per cent of Denmark is forested. These forests provide habitats for plants and animals and offer opportunities for the public to experience nature. Denmark's forests are also used for commercial timber production.

The Ministry of the Environment's State Forest Districts manage one quarter of Denmark's forested land. The state forests use close-to-nature forestry methods that take cultural, natural and financial considerations into account. This leads to robust forests that harbour diverse animal and plant species.

The Ministry also manages legislation concerning forestry in general.
