Mrs Ida Margrete Meier Auken is the Danish Minister for the Environment since the 3rd of October 2011. Born on the 22nd of April 1978 at Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. Holds a master degree in theology.
Mrs Auken has been actively involved in Danish politics for many years. As former Environmental Affairs spokeswoman in the Danish parliament and member of the Energy Policy Committee and the Environment and Regional Planning Committee she has played a vital role in shaipng Danish environmental policies 2007-2011.

Active member in the non-partisan think tank Forum Europa.
Member of the Albrightgroup womens network since 2008.
Has served on the executive committee in the interdisciplinary lecture society at University of Copenhagen, and as vicechair of the board of studies at theology.
Teaching and published work
External lecturer at the University of Copenhagen, Department of Theology.
Held courses at the University of Copenhagen, Peoples University in Copenhagen and the Øresund Summer University.
A number of feature articles and political articles in nationwide papers (2004-2010).
A number of books particularly on theological subjects - as editor.
