Green transformation of the European Union
We want to contribute to setting the direction for EU environment policy in the years to come. And we want to follow up on the Europe 2020 Strategy towards a green economy for Europe by developing a strategy for the environmental contribution to the green transformation of the European Union.
Address more crises at the same time
The current financial crisis is setting a difficult background for the Danish Presidency but we are convinced that the answer to the financial crisis is not a business as usual scenario. The answer is a coordinated and interlinked approach addressing both the financial and the climate and resource crisis at one and the same time.
Green considerations in the EU policies
To Denmark it is of overall importance to have green considerations firmly build in to EU sectoral policies. And we want the perspective for a green European economy build in to the new financial framework with a special emphasis on agriculture, fisheries, structural funds and research. We hope we will achieve a genuine lift for the improvement of nature conservation and biodiversity in the EU.
Leading the way to a green economy
We want to ensure that the European Union's goal of becoming a green economy will be achieved, and the course and initiatives set by the European Commission's Resource Roadmap must play a vital part of the 7th Environmental Action Program. If we are to realise the vision of a green economy, we must act now and use our innovative skills to the benefit of nature, environment and the peoples of Europe.
