The Danish Ministry of the Environment and COP15

Welcome to the Danish Ministry of the Environment. The work carried out by the Ministry of the Environment affects the lives of everyone living in Denmark; the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat and the towns we live in.

It also affects the Danish countryside; a habitat for flora and fauna and a place of recreation and discovery for people. Finally, the Ministry’s work affects the geographical and cadastral information used by authorities, businesses and the general public.

On the following pages you can read more about the green solutions the Ministry provides, to solve the many challenges our society faces.

Green procure-ment is one of the most important mechanisms for achieving sustainable development.
Denmark is among the world leaders in key water and environmental technologies and the Danes are used to clean water from the tap.

The Ministry of the Environment's planning activities balance and unite various interests in Danish land use.
More than 90% of waste from danish households and businesses is re-used and transformed into heat and electricity.
To coincide with COP15 the danish goverment and CIFOR (the Collaborative Partnership on Forests) will host Forest Day 3.

Eco-technology can help us to use resources in ways that are better for the environment, a development this Ministry strongly supports.
